Tips from the Tack Room: Freshen Helmets

tips from tack roomSpray Away Helmet Smell

Riding helmets can begin to smell badly without proper cleaning or regular deodorizing. You can keep your helmet fresh during the course of its useful life with specially formulated sprays by Charles Owen, a leader in helmet design and care. Charles Owen Helmet Cleaner breaks up dirt, perspiration residue and grease from your hair—all of which create unwanted odors inside your helmet. Simply spray it inside, let it sit for a minute or two, and wipe it out with a damp cloth. For a light citrus fragrance, spray the inside of your helmet with Charles Owen Helmet Deodorizer and let it dry.

Note: Never use household cleaners to freshen your riding helmet. The harsh chemicals may degrade the effectiveness of the helmet materials.
